About Hindalco Industries Limited

Hindalco Industries Limited is the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group. Incorporated in 1958, it is India’s largest fully integrated aluminium player and, through its wholly owned subsidiary Novelis, the world’s largest producer of flat‑rolled aluminium and aluminium recycler. Its Copper business operates India’s largest single‑location custom copper smelter at Dahej, and Hindalco ranks among the global top three in specialty alumina. The company’s aluminium value chain in India spans bauxite and coal mining, alumina refining, captive power, aluminium smelting, and downstream rolling, extrusions and foils; the copper division manufactures cathodes, rods and tubes with a captive jetty at Dahej. Hindalco is also one of the largest suppliers of copper to Indian Railways and meets more than half of the country’s copper requirements .

 

As on the reporting period (year ended March 31, 2025), Hindalco and its subsidiaries have manufacturing operations in ten countries across North America, South America, Asia and Europe, with 50 manufacturing plants (19 in India and 31 at Novelis). The company reported that operations at its Chakan plant commenced in January 2025 . The Group’s footprint includes bauxite and coal mines, alumina refineries, smelters, downstream facilities (FRP, extrusion, foil) and copper CCR plants across multiple Indian states including Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and others .
