About the Company

 

Graphite India Limited is one of the leading producers of graphite electrodes globally by capacity, with over 60 years of proven technical expertise in manufacturing the full range of graphite electrodes, including large‑diameter ultra‑high power (UHP) electrodes used by major steelmakers worldwide . Incorporated in 1974 and headquartered in Kolkata, the company’s operations span manufacturing and selling graphite electrodes and miscellaneous graphite products, calcined petroleum coke, impervious graphite equipment (IGE) and spares, and high speed steel, alongside glass‑reinforced pipes and power generation for sale . Its plant network covers West Bengal (Durgapur), Maharashtra (Nashik and Igatpuri), Bihar (Barauni) and Odisha (Titlagarh) . The company serves both Indian and overseas electric arc furnace (EAF) steel manufacturers and exports to the Rest of the World through its multi‑location footprint and group presence  .

 

As at March 31, 2025, Graphite India had seven subsidiaries: one in India, one in the Netherlands, four step‑down subsidiaries in Germany and one step‑down subsidiary in the United States of America (only the count is provided here) . Notable milestones in recent years include the company’s Fiftieth Annual Report for the year ended March 31, 2025, and an ongoing restructuring of overseas operations, with German graphite electrode production remaining closed while speciality and coating businesses continue; the liquidation of one German step‑down subsidiary is in process  .
