CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited is an 86-year-old engineering conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai and a leader in the Electrical Engineering Industry. Since November 2020, it has been part of the Murugappa Group. The company operates two business lines—Industrial Systems and Power Systems—supplying Traction Motors, Propulsion Systems and Signalling Relays for Indian Railways, along with a wide range of Induction Motors, Drives, Transformers, Switchgears and allied products for Industrial and Power sectors. It has also forayed into Consumer Appliances, including Fans, Pumps and Water Heaters. CG runs world-class manufacturing plants across 9 locations in India and one in Sweden, supported by a Pan-India network of 5 Regional and 14 Branch offices, and around 3,113 employees . The company serves customers in more than 50 countries across Europe, America, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, with exports contributing 7% of total turnover.
Key milestones in FY24 included being a debt-free entity, announcing capacity expansions in Motors, Transformers and Switchgear, and committing Rs 220 crores to capex. The company diversified into semiconductors, laying the foundation stone for an OSAT facility in Sanand, Gujarat . CG also highlights a leadership milestone as the first in India to indigenously develop and supply a complete range of high-efficiency motors, including IE5 Ultra-Premium Synchronous Reluctance Motors. As of March 31, 2024, the Group had 13 subsidiaries across India, Europe, North America and Asia, following dissolutions and deconsolidations noted in the consolidated records.
