About Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Government of India, incorporated in 1954 and headquartered in Bengaluru. The company is a leading aerospace and defence electronics supplier to the Indian Armed Forces, with the Government holding 51.14% of its equity, and is widely recognised as a market leader in domestic defence electronics across the Army, Navy and Air Force. In FY 2024–25, BEL reported turnover of Rs 23,024 crore and Profit After Tax of Rs 5,288 crore, supported by an order book of Rs 71,650 crore as on April 1, 2025 and fresh orders worth Rs 18,715 crore during the year.

BEL’s core business spans design, development, manufacturing and lifecycle support of strategic electronic products and systems for defence and select civilian markets. Its portfolio covers radars (including Aslesha, Lynx series, Weapon Locating Radar, 3D Surveillance Radar and 3D Tactical Control Radar), missile systems, air defence and reporting systems (e.g., Akash, LRSAM), and defence communications such as software defined radios and strategic communication systems . The company also supplies homeland security and smart city solutions, cyber security and software solutions, and has a growing presence in rail and metro, civil aviation, and space electronics and systems .

Subsidiaries and associates extend BEL’s capabilities: BEL Optronic Devices Limited is a 100% subsidiary; BEL-Thales Systems Limited is 74% owned; key associates include GE BE Private Limited (26%) and BEL IAI Aerosystems Private Limited (40%), alongside Section-8 entities supporting defence testing infrastructure . Internationally, BEL exports products and services and is expanding via international marketing offices and partnerships to address offset opportunities .
