What is Pledging of securities?

Pledging refers to using your securities as a collateral for the purpose of availing margin to increase your trading exposure.

It offers traders the opportunity to increase their buying power by pledging their holdings. Traders pledge their shares for a collateral margin which is then used to fund their trading activities.
