Is a Demat account the same as a trading account?

A Demat account is created for the purpose of holding your shares and mutual fund units in a dematerialised form, while a trading account helps you buy and sell shares and other commodities. However, when you open an account with Ventura, you will receive a demat cum trading account and need not worry about managing them separately.
