HCLTech shares jumped over 6% on April 23, 2025, after Q4 results, marking their biggest gain since September 2020. The company also announced a ₹18 interim dividend, its 89th consecutive payout.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Indian equity benchmark indices opened on a positive note, supported by favourable global cues. Most sectoral indices were trading in the green during early hours, led by Nifty IT.

As of 9:34 AM, the Nifty IT index was up nearly 3%. Within the index, HCL Technologies was the top performer. Its share price jumped over 6%, marking the sharpest single-day rally since September 2020.

The surge came after the company reported its earnings for the quarter and financial year ended March 31, 2025. For Q4FY25, HCLTech posted a net profit of ₹4,307 crore, up 8.05% year-on-year, compared to ₹3,986 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations stood at ₹30,246 crore, reflecting a 6.13% growth year-on-year.

C Vijayakumar, CEO & Managing Director, said: “HCLTech grew the fastest among our peers for the second year in a row as we witnessed yet another year of disciplined execution. We delivered on our FY25 guidance with revenue growth of 4.7 per cent in constant currency and EBIT margin of 18.3%. We saw very strong new bookings of $3B this quarter catalyzed by our AI propositions and integrated GTM organization that was set up at the start of the fiscal year. The strength of our execution should present us good medium-term opportunities emerging out of global uncertainties while we navigate the short-term cautiously.”

In a notable development, the company declared an interim dividend of ₹18 per share. This marks the 89th consecutive quarter of dividend pay-outs. The record date for the interim dividend is April 28, 2025, and the payment will be made on May 6, 2025.

With this, the full-year dividend for FY25 stands at ₹60 per share, translating to a payout ratio of 93.5%. The dividend payout ratio indicates the portion of net earnings distributed to shareholders as dividends. In this case, 93.5% of the company’s profits were paid out as dividends.

HCLTech’s total dividend payout for FY25 stood at ₹16,250 crore, compared to ₹14,073 crore in FY24. Over the past year, the stock has delivered a return of 6.23%. Over the past three years, it has gained 43.30%.
